What it does for you

  • Play against opponents you can tune

Three opponents, at a level you choose: gentle, balanced or fearsome. The game starts in one click, no account. No rating is shown: none has been measured yet.

  • Review your games, move by move

Every position is evaluated by the engine. You see who was ahead, where the game turned, and what each side was holding. Everything is computed once, when you open it; after that, nothing moves.

  • Bring your games from chess.com

Paste the PGN4 export of one game, or a whole batch: you get the full analysis right away, no account. The moves — without the usernames — join the corpus used to measure the engine.

The project, and how it is measured

Mêlée is a four-player chess engine, and the application that makes it usable. The variant is hard: with four sides, what you know from two-player chess no longer applies. The engine runs in your browser — nothing is computed on a server, and that is what makes playing without an account possible. What is stated here is measured; the rest is waiting to be.
